After years of bringing regenerative solutions to life, I observed the emergence of a common design cycle that has been guiding all my projects. This natural pattern emerged as the VITAL Process - a framework that nurtures ideas from initial vision through to living, breathing solutions that continuously evolve with their environment. Through five essential stages, we enable the birth and growth of regenerative solutions.
VISION
Conduct stakeholder interviews, system analysis, and strategic reviews to understand the project scope and context.
Study existing solutions and clearly identify design objectives. This stage is about identifying the vision of the new solution.
IDEATE
Facilitate design workshops, explore and document the idea in its full manifestation.
Develop branches, explore nuances, and frequently review the whole, designing a holistic system.
Like a growing organism, let the solution develop its complete form.
TRANSFORM
Transform the creation into applicable communication formats, from technical documentation to user-friendly guides and public materials, adapting messaging for different audiences.
Validate these materials through user testing to ensure clarity and effectiveness. This stage adapts the solution to thrive in different environments.
ACTIVATE
Execute a phased implementation plan, deliver training sessions, and establish support systems to ensure successful adoption.
Monitor early usage patterns to identify and address any implementation challenges. Here, the solution comes alive in its intended ecosystem.
